I still have a pair of Levi's Panatela jeans from the '70s.
They're green corduroy with flared legs that measure
12" across at the bottom. A $9.99 sale-price tag is
still attached, which I hope indicates I never wore them.

<<I had yuppie dickies.>>

I'm from the farm belt so I know what dickies are but the dicky thing reminded me of something.

Back in the early 70's I was working in my dad's clothing store. Dickies were a big thing but they were a false turtleneck. Christmas time and 75 hour weeks made for being a little groggy when working evenings. After 10 hours of standing I plunked my butt on a counter for some rest. A lady came in and asked if I had a red dicky. I liked to died and she turned red. Sold her a yellow dicky. Alcohol was involved.

Bellbottoms. Not pale, Bright Yellow. I've always dressed in mostly muted colors, sometimes something bolder, but a deep color, none of this bright stuff. Don't know what got into me when I was shopping, happens sometimes. So I wear them one day while hanging out on the college campus ( 3 semesters with no units completed, I don't think I can say, "while going to college ). Garnered lots of attention. I was mortified and never, ever wore them again.

Bought a pair of bright red high tops in some shiny type of material. When I got home, I opened the box and cringed. I did put them on, just to see if maybe I wore something like that now. Nope. A bright clothes wearing friend saw them and thought they were great. She wore 'em home.
