The chart doesn't show the trade although the right detail does. Is there another source to check and see if the 28 1/8 went thru..? I had a buy in all afternoon at 29 and it went unfilled. How does 25,ooo shares get traded on Instinet? Was this a private trade? Sorry but not familiar how it all works. The stock was climbing after the close and then a sell/buy for 25,000 shares. The spread was something else also which makes it look like a prearranged thing... thanks John

Ibexx Queen of Nasdaq-- She says "after the announcement that TLAB/CIEN deal was off--temporarily or permanently." Ibexx--an announcement such as this was never made after Friday's close. The market had the information all day long that discussions would be DELAYED until early September, including the possibility that they could meet Tuesday. There were NEVER announcements that "the deal was off". These were the headlines that crossed Friday after the close: DJ 08/21 [CIEN,T,TLAB] CIENA/TELLABS -3: RECOMMENDS MERGER UNDER PROXY TERMS DJ 08/21 [CIEN,T,TLAB] CIENA - BUSINESS OUTLOOK -2: CANCELED HLDRS MEETING DB 08/21 [DELL,CIEN,INTC] NASDAQ ACTIVES ON DAY: DELL COMPUTER, CIENA, INTEL. DB 08/21 [CIEN,TLAB] CIENA STILL RECOMMENDS MERGER WITH TELLABS. DJ 08/21 [CIEN,T,TLAB] CIENA CONTINUES TO RECOMMEND MERGER WITH TELLABS DJ 08/21 [CIEN,T,TLAB] CIENA SEES BUSINESS OUTLOOK UNCHANGED AFTER AT&T DECISION DB 08/21 [CIEN] CIENA SAYS SEES NO CHANGE IN BUSINESS OUTLOOK, HAS STRONG PROSPECTS. Hence the move to $34.

The last quote on after hour trade is usually messed up. I've seen this a lot. And your saying that CIEN plunged again in after hour after TLAB called off the vote meeting is untrue. This news was out hours before the close. This is why CIEN plunged to 31 1/4 after all. The only news that came out after the close is the positive comment in CIEN's conference call. CIEN will gap open above 35 on Monday. People who sold on Friday will rush to buy it back. Bargain hunters like myself will jump in. We'll see.
