Hi Christine, For the most part, I agree with Steve about the Clinton affair. He shouldn't have been investigated about the Lewinsky affair in the first place. I'm sure that Clinton would have preferred to have his affair kept discrete like those of past presidents, but wasn't allowed to because of a special prosecutor looking for a victory of any kind after spending tens of millions, and years of effort, and still failing to get an indictment on Whitewater. The lies and deception of Reagan on Iran/Contra were far more serious, and went unpunished.

Sorry about that. I got scrambled in my cut/pastes, and answered the wrong question in the wrong post. Talking Vietnam on DAR, no doubt much to Rambi's displeasure. The item quoted should have been:

<<A significant percentage of the population believes those were Monica missiles which he lobbed last week>>

Which would have made sense.

It may well be that I'm just too far away, and I'm not paying much attention. With all the investigating that's gone on into the various allegations, though, I do hope they've come up with more than a stained dress. Just trying to bring the pressure for impeachment to a point that could force a resignation will involve effectively shutting government down for an extended period, which the nation can't afford right now.

If any of the charges involved conduct which threatened the government's ability to conduct business, I might feel differently, but they really don't.

Persuading me to change my mind is not easy, but it has been done. Good luck.

Steve

From the Reuters wire...

On Friday Venezuela loosened its grip on its currency and Russia's parliament called for President Boris Yeltsin to resign, blaming him for a painful economic slide.

The sell-off prompted a flight to quality that drove the Treasury's 30-year bond higher by nearly two points and its yield to a record low.

The markets are responding to "increasing signs that economies are slowing everywhere," said Jeff Bahrenburg, fixed-income strategist at Merrill Lynch & Co.

And the issue of the day is... the blow job.
