Regardless, allegations like that are serious, and if proven true (I wouldn't be surprised)potentially devastating.

Once again, people on this thread are slamming other people instead of commenting directly on their ideas. Whatta shame.

That would be company line #1, anybody who criticizes is a Microsoft hater. Also known as a religious cultist, communist, and various other less seemly appellations. As for Red Herring and the Wendy Goldman Rohm piece, I'm a bit confused, I don't look at Red Herring much but my impression was they were pretty solidly in the Microsoft camp, at least on antitrust matters. I guess that was when they were objective and rational, now they're biased scandal mongers.

But to get back to commenting directly on people's ideas, I still have these two questions hanging out there. Does Windows 98 differ from previous Microsoft products in its copy protection mechanism? And does Excel actually use floating point math by default? These are honest questions, I don't know.

Cheers, Dan.

Thanks Mike!!

I was just refering to Red Herring's overall position throughout
the years. When they appear on CNNfn, they use every chance they
get to slam Microsoft and I am sure they are having a field day
with this news. Red Herring is a very high quality and
well respected magazine. However, I don't know why they dislike
Microsoft in general. BTW, Microsoft is the only company that I
hear them Slam over the years, so I must conclude there is something
personal there.

Show me one company who doesn't have a strategy to deal with
competition and gain market share and I will show you companies
on the way to bankrupcy and being bought out!

My Two cents,

Melanie
