After this line-up of contenders I wish I had more money to place on Intel

Carl,

To date, Intel has been able to maintain a price structure for CPU's based on large price premiums for small increases in clock speed. The price of CPU's goes up exponentially above 333 MHz. Without this price structure, Intel would be in very serious trouble.

Intel is precariously sitting on a house of cards, waiting to tumble.

Carl, >>>"What a scary list of contenders for Intel's Throne you present!"

Maybe we should call these pretenders to the Intel throne the court jesters. What the hey, kings of medieval times enjoyed having those little fellers with pointy hats and curly'd up shoes mumbling and stumbling and squealing and in general making fools of themselves. Sounds just like the Intel competition to me.

When you think about it, what other product is there, which has such a critical need and demand status, that has such weak competition for the dominant leader? Oh, software...Microsoft and networks...Cisco.
