Depending on the specific company and its accounting methods, cash net of LTD may or may not provide a more "conservative" (realistic?) valuation than book value. In other words, the "assets which were financed with that long term debt" may be on the books for a value far lower or far higher than true value. With cash net of LTD, you know what you have.
