ahhaha,

You have chosen an interesting handle. What is the attitude behind the ahhaha handle? Does it say that you get a chuckle out of the typically emotion, greed, and fear based speculative ignorance you see displayed on these threads, as well as on your upper level MM monitor? I think a better handle, based on many years of observation of this human frailty, would be oy-yoy-yoy-yoy-yoy(hyphens included to protect the literacy challenged including me).

Well, that said, your explanation of the status of interactivity and ACTV sounds very authoritative and authentic. I don't know if what you said has real technical merit. I have made, and only can afford at this time, a small bet on ACTV and what I perceive as its pioneering, state of the art technology. So, I, and probably others like me, don't care to become interactive network engineers to be able to analyze ACTV's situation as you so eloquently did in your last post. We rely on informed, credible, and honest sources to guide us. Perhaps we should avoid areas of investment where we are dependent on another's knowledge and integrity unless we know and have reason to trust the credentials of those advisors.

Therefore, I respectfully ask what your background is and how it qualifies you to be the authority on ACTV and its prospects that you seem to be?

Regards

Ahhaha,
I'm on my way to work( yes, some of us work on Saturdays ), but I would enjoy rebutting your arguments when I have time this weekend. My quick take is that there is surface plausibility, but your arguments rest on very shaky assumptions. Invalid conclusions always follow invalid assumptions.

As an ex market maker its quite obviously you have an ax to grind.

>That stands in stark contrast to the denizens of this thread who mostly talk about their speculative zeal and beseech god to give them more upside because they are so deserving. It is the first sign that speculation is rife here and therefore the stock is vulnerable. The vulnerability comes form all those speculators trying to get out. Making a continuous orderly market doesn't mean bailing out the greedy from loss. It takes no clairvoyance to see that stocks are in the middle of a major downside move so how could it be the right time to engage in wild speculation on the upside? You're only hope is that the FED continues its unprecedented pumping and the ACTV dance will last long enough for the fly-by-nighters to get out. You guys are dancing on the bridge while something looms menacingly in the moonlight. <

What the hell are you talking about? >Fed continues its pumping, beseech God?<

Folks, why do I get the feeling we have an expert on everything here and he ain't leaving for a long time.

>. You need ubiquitous cable modem to make ACTV into a universal tv adjunct, but that functionality supersedes General's STBs and cable availability, so one must wait for cable modem and new STB hardware.<

Are you saying GI's DCT-1000 doesn't work for Actv? Your post is cryptic.

WSJ: Gartner Group analyst Cassell predicts digi set-tops could grow to 14.3 million in 2002 from 3.2million in 98.
From story on 9/14, Motorola to Unveil Set-top Box that offers many digital tools"

No doubt about it, the industry is going digital. Unlike 1990 this is no false start and no "charade".

I happen to agree with the major part of your analysis concerning the actual functionality of ACTV's proprietary system, but as you say it is the only game in town, especially for the major advertisers.

Survival of ACTV in one form or another is virtually assured by our partnership and JV with Liberty. As I said months ago, "it's time for Liberty to step up to the plate".

The question is, where the actual revenue will come from, to ACTV. What is the game plan at this point? This all remains to be seen. IMHO, current ACTV top management has gone as far as they can go. I believe that it is only a matter of time before Liberty is calling all the shots concerning the Entertainment Division. We could either greatly benefit from this or get sold out.

As you claim we are too emotionally involved, you are probably correct. There was some large profit taking last week that many of us are having great problem with, MM's are indeed an easy target and many of us have become distracted once again, from the facts. We are still a long way off from making any money.
