Bill, do you have any figures to back up that claim? 50% sounds like a pretty big number. Based strictly on populations and quoted government debt figures (excluding what you have suggested), a very rough calculation shows the per capita debt for both the US and Canada to be large and nearly the same. Guess this is the price we have paid to enjoy a high standard of living for so many years which has included in the case of Canada, heavily subsidized health care and education. Let me be clear that I definitely do NOT agree with all the decisions our fearless leaders have made in either country which have led to this mess....but these debt problems will take a long time to sort out and BOTH countries are still excellent places to live in the meantime. I think that should be pointed out here because most Canadians are proud or their country and enjoying a great standard of living relative to many other places throughout the world.
