Well I'll try one here

I would say consenses feels that interest rates are coming down. At least short term rates. Besides the market fall, the reasons would include a slowing economy due to the global situation and a boost to forgien currencies. At the same time REITs have been well hated for the year. A contrarian play as I see it. Even though the economy may slow, FFO seems to be growing VS payout and prices for shares are selling for less then appraised value. So income payments look pretty solid in a market where interest rates should get more valuable.
Yet REITs have been abandoned by mutual fund investors and institutions alike. REITs, investors dont like em.

You cant buy stuff cheap if everyone loves it.
