Does anyone have any experience with Linux? I've just had it with NT. This is the second time I was doing a backup onto tape when it froze up and I was unable to restore my configuration. I.e. when I tried to reboot, I kept getting memory dumps. It seems that my best and least hassle-free OS is the old standby 3.11. At least there is there is a problem I can solve it. And I can do backups from DOS so all I need do to restore my system is reinstall DOS and then do a restore from tape. I'm really at the end of my rope with 95, 98, and NT. They just don't allow you to fix problems easily, and restoring your system if you do have a serious problem is impossible. Helppp!!!

Thanks for the ntfaq site, Dan--hadn't seen this one. I have been auto-logging using Tweak UI for some time (a handy little utility--always one of my first apps on a fresh install.)

Good question on password caching, too. I'd wondered the same thing, and would welcome a solution.

Dan,

NT will never cache passwords in order to be C2 compliant. Evidently the spec indicates that there can even be no option to enable this as it is considered a large security hole by the government. You might want to try a program like passwords plus.
