I think Apple holds three (3) more patents than Microsoft. When I said "so many more," that was a relative term. :0

Not being much of a betting man, I'll pass on this one.

In any case, the only innovation of any real consequence in this debate (at least as of today) is the success of the GUI. And even this wasn't an Apple innovation, they just made it great (in every sense of that word). Which brings up another matter: What good is an innovation if it's a piece of crap?

If you're going to tie specific revenue streams to specific products, or patentable innovations, maybe an exact number of patents will do you some good. As far as common wisdom goes, the Mac has always been seen as the platform for (and by) creative professionals; that's not likely to change, ever.
