:^) I've been so used to the TDFX we all knew, I don't know if I can take much more of this unTDFX like behavior anymore; It goes up no matter what the market does! I might just have to leave this thread and move to one where the stock maintains a consistent behavior. NOT! I talked to TDFX on Friday evening. We are still discussing issues. Once its over, I let you know what the details. For the most parts though, nothing has changed (including all the things that we did want changed). The recent up move, I think, is due to all the irrational investors going bust (or at least giving up on the stock). As I told Pat in an old email, "what TDFX needs is a disappointing quarter" to bring in some new blood and get rid of those "supporters" that cause the downfall of stock. I am happy to say that it is finally time to buy TDFX.

P.S. Pat thanks for the link to cheap Banshee card. Can those guys be counted upon for maintaining good and up to date drivers?

(1) Multitexturing is patentable
(2) Patentable has only two t's
(3) They _did_ get a patent on it
(4) You didn't specify _which_ company you "verified" your claim
that "They have no holds on multitexturing in general or on the
'method' which is in use in DxD"

I don't have an opinion on what's causing the large fluctuations, but I am holding on tight. I am very long on 3dfx because I believe that their technology has already made a significant impact, and I believe that 3dfx deserves a good portion of the market _they created_ [dedicated game graphics cards for PC's].

Consider my long position "support" more than anything else. Isn't that what a company wants from an investor?

When 3Dfx showed their stuff, it was the _only_ stuff that could handle the fill-rates that games needed. In the future, I believe that 3Dfx will continue to provide solutions that will be catered to the game market.

As far as the other guys? They will _never_ have the respect that 3Dfx has now with the gaming community. I consider them all "knock offs." So who is 3Dfx knocking off (if anybody)? SGI. Of course SGI wanted to provide cheap PC's with fast 3D graphics at some point, but I think as people started leaving, 3Dfx started gaining momentum. I don't think that it's a coincidence that they are only a few miles away from each other (IE commuting an extra SGI to 3Dfx in the morning and 3Dfx to SGI in the evening is pretty easy).

When I hear that there's a better graphics solution than 3Dfx, I'll be the first to log on here, and let everybody know. Right now, it looks like 3Dfx will be the supplier of 3D game graphics cards for at least the next 2 years (regardless of the competition) because of the software that is written for it that will last that long. Just ask MicroSoft how well it works to have software that needs your product to work.
