<<My query is, what about worries that Tlab is a one trick pony? You know, the digital cross connect product needs some successors>>

Good, basic question, Doug. I am also interested in what Tlab has cooking in the optical area. Maybe someone has the answer at hand. I've got some good info on it but not with me. Lehman currently calling Tlab their best single pick. Price action today indicates somebody (besides us) knows something. ...Tim

Doug-Tellab's is not a one trick pony company. Titan is like a 6 year old horse, Martis is like a promising 2 year old, cable products are like a 1 1/2 year old, and Coherent type products are like a stable work horse. I feel that Tellab's is good to go for the next 3-5 years. They will ,IMHO, be on the outlook for a partnership, acquisition etc. for their needed fiber-optic technologies to augment their more academic Paul Green group in this area. Global recession will have a affect on Tellab's earnings, say taking them from +45% to +30% increase of net earnings per year, but still not bad. I'm still a long term bull, and I bought some more the other day. My goal is for 25-35% growth in price annually over the next 3-5 years. Overall Tellab's got beat on pretty hard during the Ciena deal, say about -$40/share, which puts them as one of the most attractive Telecom. eqt. cos. around today.( confirm that yourself with detailed comparisons with the other telecom. cos. egt.,Lucent's PE is 34,N. telecom is 37 and Tellab's is 21)
I am a firm believer in the explosive growth potential of the needed eqt. in this information age, an age that will last more than 20 years.
Be patient, net earnings growth will pull Tellab's back up to where it belongs, say a PE of 40, once this doom and gloom world recession is handled on a country by country basis, the Clinton crisis gets fixed, etc.
Sincerely
DAVE DICKERSON
