folks tomorrow is a critical day for xyln with earnings coming out at the end of the business day. The consensus is for 21-22 c. and whisper number is 23c. Xyln will be buying back stock as well shortly. They are a very hot takeover target inspite of what a few people on this thread think. Xyln is trading very close to its all time low and though it does not mean anything there may not much downward potential imo. Good luck people and hang tight to your shares and thwart the MM games that are being played for the last few days.

up till now, LU has been playing safe with small acquisitions. LANNET is a little over 100m and LU did get a fairly good deal for the technology company that is based in Tel-Aviv.
LANNET current product line is limited compared to xyln, they do have OC3 (155m) ATM but do not currently sem to have ATM OC12 capability.

XYLN at this price is a big bargain. In fact most of the networking sector professional people are surprised that xyln took a much heavier hit than most companies in spite of no early warning. Seems like they'll meet their numbers. CS did have a strong qtr and FORE said that they did have strong bookings but was not able to build it in time. Therefore, market demands seem to be quite strong and xyln may even surprise with a much better number. At this price XYLN is a good buy.
IMO, downside risk is minimum and upside potetntial is quite good. If xyln release a good earnings and mkt co-operate we can see double from this price point in a few days.

Gary, I want to take your post a step further. I noticed in Lannet and Xylan press releases that Lannet has an insignificant customer base versus Xylan.I found that Sprint is a Lannet customer, and FIAT telecom is testing their product. Aside from that they have a real estate group and media group in Hong Kong and a few hospitals and schools. Contrast this to Xylan's customer list:Alcatel, IBM, Nortel, Vitesse SEMI,Time-Warner LAN group, BancoCentro Brasil and Canada's largest CLEC. Question.....if the two products are so alike in function, why then does Lannet's customer base pale in comparison to Xylan's? Bad marketing,or are the products no so alike in scale? Any thoughts?

Gary, I came away with the same impression on comparing the product lines, and there is no doubt that Lannet languished under Madge. But now they will have a much more substantial sales and marketing force behind the products, not to mention the deep pockets of LU for R&D.

My posting here is not to disparage XYLN, or even to compare XYLN to Lannet. XYLN is currently a premier supplier of high end LAN switching gear, and Lannet is a wannabe.

But, the fact is LU bought Lannet, and not XYLN. Probably because they felt the technology was competitive, the price was cheap, and with some sales muscle behind them, they could prosper.

Lannet and XYLN are not complimentary companies. They are competitors. My purpose in posting is here is just to point out to people that LU will not likely buy XYLN. Doesn't mean someone else won't step up. It just won't be LU, IMO.
