Two open questions =

1. If the next rev of Banshee is OEM at board level would you expect it to incorporate embedded memory, like a NeoMagic chip you'd find in 70% of notebooks ? Can AGP2X be integrated onto the Mobo ?

2. When TDFX wins the patent infringement action against NVidia, would you expect monetary judgement to be on a "chips sold" basis ?
Reasonably good sales of TNT would equate to larger awards in this scenario.

Trident is no longer in the videochip business.

Sun, regarding nVidia:

They must be considered a considerable threat. The ONLY thing they have against them right now are lawsuits- which may or may not be significant, and cash.

Getting cash makes both of those problems much smaller. They will get cash when they go public. I know, the market sucks, graphics suck, now is not a good time. But as I recall, TDFX was supposed to IPO in April last year. Remember April? I sure as hell do...anybody long the networkers in bloody April last year? Oiy!

Anyway, they put it off until June. Anybody remember June? I sure as hell do...anybody long the networkers? WOOHOO! Glorious June...

Bottom line is this: Mr. Market is not taking his lithium. Today the market sucks for an IPO. Next month? Who knows. All I know is that nVidia could whip up $50M cash real quick at some point in the near future. I'll bet they look at the shelf every day, salivating...waiting for that glorious day...

As for shorting them, well probably won't be worth it...a month after they go public, they will probably have lost half their value...

As for $80M, I'll believe it when I see it, but I don't think it is an impossibility... $45M sounds much more reasonable. But regardless of what their revs are, I'll bet COGS is waaaaay up there. I just don't see them taking a big slice of their sales all the way to the bank...

Thats all for now, folks!
