Does anyone know the last date on which a mutual fund can sell for a loss?

I wish this was just shorts but I have a hard time buying that. This stock just doesn't fit the profile of a big short, IMO. It has never gotten too far ahead of itself and has good institutional support. There are all sorts of companies out there with huge valuations like Brcm that would be a more obvious short. Aspt has a relatively low valuation and they only missed by a penny, yet the stock get's crushed by 50% like it had a Brcm P/E. Orcl has a valuation they deserve in my opinion. The low end is a commodity lead by MSSS and the high end is becoming saturated. Their applications business is on and off, and is suffering from Y2K slowdown.

If shorts can hammer a stock like Aspt as hard as they have, and hold it there, then I'm spending too much time looking for good longs and will switch to looking for shorts....seems like easier money.
