If you consider IBM and Intel competitors in the NIC product line, yes, Dell uses them but offers Adaptec NICs as an option. But where the drive controller is concerned, there appears to be no SCSI competitor to Adaptec. The RAID controller in the PowerEdge Server line is called PERC (PowerEdge RAID Controller), suggesting it is manufactured by DELL. But is it really? If so, why does DELL offer the Adaptec RAID controller in the Precision Workstation 610?

Basic question: who makes DELL's PERCs? DELL?
