Regarding MFST and QCOM joint venture, I just noticed that John Major will head up this new venture. Any comments here? John was running the infrastructure group and this would indicate a shift in his responsibilities. Is there a possible spin off in the works of Q's wireless business solutions? Any other insight would be appreciated. Thanks
Web.

To DaveMG: A couple of interesting points re the MSFT / Q joint venture. If the Wall Street Journal is accurate, and AT&T plans to join along with Airtouch, could this mean that AT&T is making a move - no matter how small and tentative - toward CDMA and (perhaps) a deemphasis on TDMA? This could be a major straw in the wind. Secondly, if the head of the Q's infrastructure operation is to move to the new entity and take Q staff with him, would seem to indicate that the Q's own infrastructure business has turned the corner - perhaps a sign that it is healthy and money making at last (except for vendor financing). Another possible straw in the wind. Does anyone agree re these possibilities? Chaz PS Of course we will know much more Tues.

DaveMG, All ...provide secure and speedy wireless data communications between large computer networks...

...Several big telecommunications companies, such as Airtouch (ATI) and AT&T (T),are expected to link up with the joint venture...

This is starting to sound like an HDR project. Seems very significant that John Major, Q's infrastructure honcho, would head up the project.
Anyone but me remember Irwin hinting on the CC that "we see some very interesting opportunities that may arise in the US" [in the context of an infrastructure demand question, I believe]? Hmmmmmmmmmmm.
