Glenn, you must just be baiting us. How can you say that retailing over a global computer network is the same as a bazaar 3000 years ago? How about profound differences in user interface, back office and front office procedures, and the potential revenue stream for starters?

There's no basic change in accounting. There's a change in venture capitalism. Because of the necessity to have publicly-priced stock as trading capital for acquisition, some great companies come public earlier than they used to.

Glenn, you are asking some tough questions there <g>.

amzn is really nothing more than a mail order catalog. They take orders for other companies' products, and send them out in the mail. What else do they do?

But a look at mail order companies will show that many of them are losing money and the ones that are not are barely making money.
