Quite a diatribe Mr. Hughes. :-) I know several people who voted party line Republican hoping to denounce Clinton's inexcusably slandering, gutless, and false denials of his now fairly obvious problem. Still, I think only some 20% admitted to voting on this issue AT ALL- which I admit, makes my statement way too strong("almost no one"). I take it back. You suggest the media somehow lies in reporting this. Swell. The media carried the ball for the Republicans for a while, then bombarded the airways with Clinton supporters as the election drew nearer. JMHO. You are one who believes Government can create jobs and boost the condition of the common man as a result. I do not. You imagine it's possible to support business to the detriment of jobs(and how can government create jobs first without supporting or creating out of whole cloth some sort of business as employer?) I don't believe government should support business large nor small. You believe minimum wage hikes are beneficial to the little guy. I believe they HURT the little guy, and I've good reason for believing it, and good company standing with me. I'm content believing we are right. I think history will inevitably take us all toward understanding what those of my ilk believe right now. Freedom works. I believe the common man will be better off when he finally realizes this, votes it, and it thus comes to pass. I would welcome the destruction of the Republican party precisely because there ARE remnants of racism within it(Although the democratic party has it's share of racism, we know well); because it DOES hypocritically support big Government- I do not believe in the ultimate viability of big Government. I'd like the Libertarian party to replace them thus solving your worry concerning the need for a two party system. I'd like the Republicrats and Democans to join as one party in support of substantial government, since that's really what they both have been busy creating over the years. I'd like Libertarians to hold a two thirds majority in both houses of congress for all times, standing against Demorepublicratcans. I won't hold my breath. We don't need two parties busy doing the peoples work- we need to prevent government from DETERMINING the people's work- 'cause they sure as hell won't do it for us in any event, so WE should decide to quit pretending they ever will. The people need to determine and perform work for themselves as Americans have learned to do quite successfully, thank-you. The biggest impediment to optimal prosperity is Government. Tax monies spent by government changes the nature of the jobs a society performs. Ask this: do particular jobs result from consumer choices or government choices? Which ones are which? I say 250 million heads making about 99% of the societal economic choices out of their own back pockets could create efficiencies from job creation that could minimize poverty beyond what Government will ever achieve. Let's end the bulk of government; THAT'S the way to spread the wealth by government decree! Power to the people! Right on baby! But that's just me. :-) Ever positive.
