Gary, I think that you are right about the shorts. I do recall that the short interest has been high throughout the history of this stock. I have heard form several people that it was hedge position by employees and insiders. When I was buying into XYLN few weeks ago and called IR at Xylan, they of course would not divulge that information.
I imagine it would be very difficult to verify if the short interest is indeed a hedge position.

Gary;

Many thanks for taking the time to respond. XYLN has been in an interesting pattern since it bottomed. It has a big spurt either early in the AM or late in the PM and then backs off about 50% of the spurt and flatlines. The top of that spurt, though, seems to "indicate" where it's headed. It will be interesting to see on Monday if it steps back up to Friday's intraday high.

Thanks again for taking the time to respond to my short interest question.

Good luck!

Tom
