But jbe, doesn't it follow that if you are going to be an "ordinary registered Democrat" you would at least know what agenda you are supporting. Oh yeah, I forgot, the term yellow dog was coined specifically for Democratic supporters. Forget it. Michael, you better contact the DNC if you want any specific material information. The only thing you'll get none from rank and file Demos is spin. Come to think of it, that will probably be all you'll get from the DNC.

jbe, is it a neatly categorized box? Or do they themselves not have any vision of where the country should go? It's easy to be a cynic and point out the faults in everybody. Much more difficult to actually believe and be for something.

Many people have spent countless hours on this thread denouncing the Republicans, Ken Starr, Newt Gingrich and others. I simply am asking the question, what are they FOR? Is that such a difficult concept for Democrats, or Independents to come up with, that they must feel in a box in order to answer? Why?

I'm actually stunned that so many people (including apparently yourself), are unable to describe any sort of a vision of where the path of the country should head.

Let me see if I can help with a few questions.

1. Do you think we should reduce taxes?
2. Do you think we should reduce spending?
2. Do you think we should move toward privatizing the social security system?
3. Do you think we should push for a balanced budget amendment?
4. Do you think we should pass term limits?
5. Do you think we should ban abortions during birth?
6. Do you think we should reform our school system and allow more charter schools or vouchers?
7. Do you think we should end corporate welfare?

You see jbe, the funny thing is when I ask these types of questions most people will say, Yeah or sure why not! Then they go and vote for the Democratic party where the Democratic leadership has been voting against these types of changes for years. I really don't understand the relationship between believing in one thing, and then voting for people who are against those belief's. So I am trying to understand why? That's all.

Actually as I write this post, it comes to me that fear is actually the driving force for anti-change voting. Fear of the religios right, fear of the unknown, or fear of upsetting the status-quo. Have the media so drummed fear into the electorate that common sense change has been made virtually impossible?
