Well, I finally did get to talk to Lisa and the situation is that CREAF has done all it needs to start buying back shares. But the clock is ticking on this 10% and it's use it or lose it. Their next meeting was scheduled for around Dec 11 but they are trying to move it back to Dec 30, which is about the limit. She couldn't tell me how aggressively they will buy, but my feeling is that they will be fairly aggressive. That is if they ever get the chance.

They also appear to be somewhat in the dark about where the bill stands now. I guess their connections to the Singapore government aren't as deep as you'd think. This bill may be low on Singapore's priorities. She said that it appears that CREAF is the only company there that is really wanting this done now. But she did say it could happen any day.

I also asked her about the dividend and she wouldn't say whose idea it was or whether they had any consulting on it. But she did give the same general reasons for it that we have all discussed. I think the number one reason is that it opens up access to pension and other funds that can only buy dividend yielding stocks, particularly in Asia. And I think they are also hoping that some of that money flows back into the stock.

But mainly she indicated that they are very comfortable with their future cash generation, which would likely cover all their needs. So if they don't distribute any of their present cash, it will just sit there in the bank.
