Penni, your poem really struck me. I have not actually FELT "When . . . even the phrase 'each other' doesn't make any sense" since some acid trip in the late sixties when my selfness dissolved into a kaleidoscope of flower petals and soared across a moonlit sky.

I always hoped I could get back there without chemicals, but was not very successful. We are usually all so separate, even when we feel safe and are around loved ones. Life becomes so routine, so closed, maybe because we cannot deal very often with being so connected. Is that because it can hurt so much?

Anyway, thanks a lot for the poem. I am not familiar with Rumi. Can you tell me a little more?

" When someone declares that he owns the truth, the only truth, there is no purpose in discussion, no where to go, no place to come together."

Jesus said that he is "the way, the truth and the light". The lack of wholeness you and Christine experience is the reality of your sinful fallen nature. The darkness of sin destroys our peace and reduces our lifes to confusion and hopelessness. Jesus took our sin, confusion and darkness upon himself that we might be restore to the image and likeness of God. You were created to be the daughters of God and your hearts will never know peace until Christ restores you to your noble calling.
