JPR is not a branch office of Terra Nova, but they do use RT3 through Townsend, as TN does. They have three offices, NY, LA, and Boca Raton, FL.

I know a number of people using JPR, and they all love it, and have had no problems. Apparently, even though they clear through Southwest like MBT, et al, their short policy is less restrictive. They are much smaller than MBT, having approx. 65 remote traders around the country, while MBT has in the "few hundreds" (according to Ross). Customer service, it appears, is also not up to the levels of MBT, but problems are virtually non-existent, I am told. They also have a thread here on SI, started by a client, I believe. I'm also told that Southwest is horrible with NYSE stocks, as far as quick fills, and confirmation of same, but I don't know if that is true with MBT or other firms that use Southwest.

Big difference with them is that you need to generate 400 tickets per month to trade out of the data fee as opposed to 50 with MBT. But, since the commissions are so much cheaper, there is a level where it still is actually cheaper overall to use JPR, though I forget that number right now, and am too lazy to calculate it in my current haze.<g>

Hope that helps. No,I'm not affiliated with them in any way.

Len

Scan...

In your fanatical, almost sociopathic, attempts to discredit Terra Nova and Townsend Analytics you failed to mention one thing. Townsend Analytics is plastered ALL OVER the Archipelago web-site with NO intentions of hiding any type of relationship. See for yourself:

archipelagoservices.com

Your ridiculous posts continue to be nothing but libelous innuendo.

I started a thread for you where your desultory essays would be more appropriate:

scanshift, now that you mention it, JPR is one of the 3 finalists I am currently considering. They don't waive the monthly charge, but do have a lower ticket cost. At small numbers of trades (20 or so), they are about the same price as MBT, Executioner, but as the numbers get higher, they pull out ahead. I have a couple of questions I need answered (about account maintenance, etc), but they are looking good.

p.s. No, it doesn't bother me that much about Townsend and ARCA, since it isn't clear to me they are keeping a secret (as opposed to not advertising it). In any event, I would likely just avoid ARCA. One of the advantages MBT had over livetrade and a couple of the others was I wouldn't have to worry about mickeymousing the fractional per-share charges at various ECN's. I'm new to this, so that is one less nuisance. OTOH, JPR looks appealing on account of they don't bundle the ECN charges, but break them out - however they do so as fixed charges. e.g. I don't mind $1/ticket for trading on the Island, since that is a simple addition to the base $10 (but they don't have any per-share charges for each ECN). I am requesting an info packet from them...
