so the "opening" is an 'abnormal' trading time and they don't have obligation to execute my order. hmm, that kinda stinks! :-)

it seems like the nasdaq (SUNW) aren't up to their task!

Not only they do not need to execute during "special hours", they just may delay the order display to prevent unwanted best bid/ask orders to be shown up. Silly so what is shown up may be too good or too bad depending on the direction the stock should take... in an IPO they can show an ascending trade pattern where no ascending trades are and sort out limit sell orders...but execute the others at lower prices.
