Rick, do you run 64KB or 128KB?

Have you determined if the 128KB makes a worthwhile difference?

I can't let this one sit. Folks, it is absolutely not the case that you need to get a dialup account with a Tier 1 provider. If Ross or anyone else at MBT says that, they are propagating misinformation. I manage an ISP backbone, so I know something about this. You are confusing two different issues. If your dialup provider has made the bad decision of overcommitting their bandwidth, your performance will suffer. This has nothing to do with where the ISP connects up, but rather, with how much (if at all) they overseel their network bandwidth. Hint: be very wary of ISP's who offer unlimited access for ridiculously low prices. There are corners being cut there. That said, I am not denigrating UUNet in any way. The ISP I work with in fact uses UUNet as a backbone connection. All I am saying is that a local ISP may very well be just as good (and give you better customer service, since you are not just a cog in the machine).

Rick, I checked, and UUNET has a local dial# for my ISDN modem. I can try to keep the hours to 150 by using UUNET for trading and DNAI for research and all other internet surfing. (I'd gladly pay $50/month for trouble-free connections.)

I'll start with DNAI and see how they do. If they can deliver the benefit of UUNET, then I get 150 hours + $0.50/extra hour. If not, I'll do both and split my usage between them.
