David, I need to look at the report more closely... but I think its the latter. I think Oracle primarily competes with Sap in applications - the mfg front primarily. Psft is kind of weak in mfg and sells more in the financial category. Well thats the way it used to be anyway.

Sap stock has taken a hit in the last week or so, it may be the analysts are expecting weakness? I do... I dont see much upside in Sap this year anyway.

Oracle is benefitting seriously from 1) msft weakened by DOJ and 2) 8i web enabled server technology. In fact, I think Dell is stalled for the same reason Orcl will rise - the "commodity server" box I envisioned with NT and Sql Server 7 just isnt happening - Redmond is somewhat stalled, for how long is the question.

Im glad for Oracle Id like to see them do well... but I think psft will have to recover on their own, it will probably happen by June 1999 unless a new space gets invented. BWDIK Im a fundamental person anyway, and you know how that is - the stock does what its supposed to about 50% of the time!
