Jim: Re. "maybe there'll be a positive pre-announcement for a change", I certainly wouldn't discount the possibility, but would never predict one. I checked out your links on the CD-making software (thanks). I can't comment on the competition to Adaptec's products, because I still haven't made the leap to CD-R, or -RW. But I've looked at various hardware packages and noted that Adaptec software products (and sometimes a SCSI card) are included in many/most of them. Also, since the review in May, Adaptec has begun selling a newer version of Easy CD Creator Deluxe (V. 3.5) (June), Direct CD (V. 2.5) (August), and Jam (for Macs) in September. Erstwhile CEO Saviers stated during the conference call after the first bad news in January that Adaptec would be placing more emphasis on marketing. Even if your competitor has better products, marketing can be an equalizer. Starowl
