They do have the authority to defend themselves if attacked (Pearl Harbor). But any General that initiated a raid into Iraqi without direct Presidential authority would be immediatly removed and court martialed.<< I am ready to accept your explanations and they make sense. I think however that the military machine is no fool (and is one of the better trained and educated in the world, no sweat about that ) and would very unlikely be pushed around into making decisions that get it into a place it doesn't want to be. I think the willingness to attack Iraq within the military is strong, at least from what is reported in the media, main stream and specialized. IMHO. Thanks again for the response. Regards Stephan
