Benny,

I think this excerpt from the American Banker article clearly explains the problem.

>>
"Integrion will wind up being a two- or three-bank proposition," said Gary B.
Meshell, executive vice president of Benton International, the Perot Systems Corp.
consulting unit.

Mr. Meshell is spearheading an effort to create a bank-owned bill presentment
utility, Electronic Commerce Trust Co., that could challenge Integrion and its bill
payment and presentment partner, Checkfree Corp. Mr. Meshell said he envisions
a handful of Integrion banks wresting control from IBM and Checkfree.
<<

The question is, if CheckFree turns to the Web Portals, will the Banks cooperate ?

Benny, thanks for the article.

1. The most radical, though perhaps least realistic, proposal
would be to liquidate the two-year-old technology venture

It's hardly a news. It's been declared on this thread:
King (Integrion) has died, long live king (CKFR).
Message 6777239

2. Mr. Meshell said he envisions a handful of
Integrion banks wresting control from IBM and Checkfree.

The gentleman is full of sh.t and this is why:

Mr. Meshell is spearheading an effort to create a bank-owned bill presentment utility, Electronic Commerce Trust Co.

3. It strikes me that IBM, that has missed so many golden opportunities done it again. They let DOS go to MS, microprocessors to Intel, now CF went to Oracle.

4. FUD attacks on CF will continue, but now, after contracts with EDS and Oracle they can't confuse old timers on this thread. Personally, I am waiting when FDC comes to CF to do back processing, just like EDS done. That will be the last nail in the coffin of FUD players. On that day I will start a new thread for CF and call it after famous C. Eastwood's words: "Make my day bustards!"
