daily appreciation.

Not a chance. If it was delisted and moved to the pink sheets, then they would no longer be required to submit any financial statements to the SEC. The stock would promptly quadruple in value because they would never have to issue a disappointing earnings report.

(and i'm being serious)

Craig (?),

Technically they could attempt to delist AMZN based upon NASDAQ rules, but in reality they would have no trouble converting some of the high flying stock equity into a tangible such as cash or acquiring another company with hard assets.

Welcome to SI and the AMZN thread, Cap_Loss_Cfwd, I love that name. -g-

There are some that were/are here that have cap losses to outlast their expected lifetimes, plus a few years. -ng- I certainly hope you have called a top by closing in classic "WrongWay" fashion 'cause I just picked up some poots at the day's top, as it turns out. Unfortunately, they will likely be worthless tomorrow.

To your DAQ de-listing question, there are a bunch of exceptions to the modified net asset value test of $4 mill; I think that is the current number. I don't remember all the in's and out's, but not to worry, AMZN is in no danger, otherwise the DAQ would look like cheap crooks. -g- Call the DAQ if you really want to find out how one escapes the shun to the OTC or BB.

And you are right on about the weird cash flow nature of the biz. It will probably be touted for another 30% run, ala DELL, when the sell side anals run out of good things to say, even though those obvious positive items have been there all along and previously discussed ad nauseam.

Regards, Ice

Today I finally gave up my last short position
on Amazon, needless to say with major losses. Deducted at $3,000 per year I have tax
deductions which should last well into the next millenium.

I decided to cave not because I think AMZN is ever going to create profits worthy of
10% of its current market cap, but because the laws of economic gravity appear to have
been suspended for the "Thing", EBAY et al. My life will be simpler and more peaceful
without AMZN. I will keep in touch and maybe reenter if the opportunity presents itself.
Glenn, I appreciate the angst you are experiencing over this situation.

Cap,

I am sorry for us both. I can carry losses forward for almost ever too.

Glenn
