John--
I would guess that most people here agree that clear-cutting on Madera's land would go against the company's stated goal to preserve the Amazon for future generations.

But for the sake of argument, what is the regrowth time in the Amazon for the hardwood trees that we are talking about? I would guess that with the amount of rainfall they get there, the growth rate would be staggering to a North American like myself, who only gets to see silver maples shoot up at two feet a year.

As for Madera's property never turning into a city...well, I hope not...if the Amazon becomes urban, the world loses 40% of its oxygen source. That would be the cause of much world suffering, IMHO, and one reason I wholeheartedly support Madera's efforts!

For the future!

Rick

To John T. and all:

I made a long post on the other WOOD thread about what the value of this would be in a fair market. Please take the time to read my post there and comment on it, if I am off base I would like to know.

I don't see myself as a hypester...I have long been aware of how grossly undervalued WOOD was, and accepted it as the way of the world. Now that Madera is being taken more seriously by the market, perhaps we should engage in more serious analysis.

Cheers!
Rick
