Cirruslvr:

Nice finding. This is great news. By jacking the Vcc=2.2V to 2.3V
AMD will able to get a huge speed bin in the 450MHz. All the
433MHz can now run at 450MHz.

K6-2-400MHz--Vcc=2.2V
K6-2-450MHz--Vcc=2.3V
K6-3-400MHz--Vcc=2.3V
K6-3-450MHz--Vcc=2.3V

With 2.4V AMD should be able to get 500MHz without process
or design change. All I can say is CHEER! If Intel wants to play
MHz game AMD will play their game. With K6-2-450MHz,
K6-3-400MHz, K6-3-450MHz, and 7-8M total dice in Q1 AMD
should ROCK & ROLL. Long live AMD and DOWN WITH BIG
BROTHER INTEL.

Cringe - re: "K6-2 450 and K6-3 will require 2.3 volts."

There they go again - their process can't produce 450 MHz at the nominal Vcc so they have to JACK UP THE VOLTAGE.

That's a 9% power increase over the 2.2 volt part at the same frequency.

However, since 450 MHz is 12.5% above 400 MHz, that adds up to a total of 21.5% POWER INCREASE for 450 MHz K6-2.

I hope the PC OEM's can handle that excess heat generation.

<AMD mboard recommendations>
There are only listings for K6-3 400 and 450 , no mention of K6-3 350
as previous reports indicated .
That would seem to indicate better yields .
BTW , I love the way Useless and his friend hi priest are still in denial of AMD's ability to compete . That is one reason why AMD has not gone on stage 2 boost , there are quite a large number of analysts with the same kind of tunnel vision . When earnings are released this week it will be another upside surprise . If they announce anything close to 50c judging by stocks such as MOT and LLTC that should give AMD second stage boost to $50+
best regards , Brian
