Steve,
If it was the supervisor, I would write a very polite share holder note to Compaq. This is not the way to treat customers. Dan #21143 is not taking care of the stake holders. Management needs to fix this. They can't fix it, if they don't know about it.

I am having a hard time believing any of this. You're just making this up, right?

On top of that, there are boatloads of actual presario products around - I just bought a 5190 (400 MHz) for $1599. I could have bought a 333MHz for $699, a 350MHz for $899, and so on up to the biggest multimedia box for $2,299. There is nothing in the presario desktop line which is $800 over your stated $1799.

come on, fess up. This is just too wierd. It's a hoax, right?

PS - just discovered in a subsequent post that you are talking about notebooks. Maybe you could have picked a 1240, 1255, 1260, 1266, 1267 - the most expensive of those is only $100 over your $1799 price, and several are cheaper. I still can't believe this.

Well, it looks like I should apologise - I went online, and found that all but the 1800 series presario notebooks are in fact sold out. I then called the 800 number and got the same story, yep, there ain't no more notebooks.

If your horror story is really true, I'll gladly take up the cudgel in your behalf. At a minimum, if CPQ took your order they should either ship you what you ordered, or ship you the next better model at no additional charge.
