WILMINGTON, Del., Jan> 14 (Reuters) - Shareholders of Ascend Communications Inc. (Nasdaq:ASND - news) have filed four lawsuits in Delaware Chancery Court seeking to block the company's proposed merger with Lucent Technologies Inc. (NYSE:LU - news).

In information papers filed Wednesday, the plaintiffs in the suits allege that the directors of Ascend have breached their fiduciary duty ''in their failure to maximize shareholder value.''

The suits name Ascend and its directors as defendants.

The suits seek a preliminary injunction that would block any further action on the merger until it is determined that the highest value for Ascend shares has been attained.

Copies of the suits themselves were not available

With PacBell ADSL, your computer is not protected from the network. I can be "cracked". With Covad, the interface box has a higher level of security. In addition, the $150 includes the ISP 24hour service. Does the $90 include ISP services? Does the same price apply if you don't go with PacBell.net?
