Abortion Providers Win Suit Over Web Site, Posters

PORTLAND, Ore. (Reuters) - A federal jury Tuesday ordered anti-abortion activists to pay more than $50 million in damages to abortion clinics and doctors in a landmark case testing the limits of free speech on the Internet.

After a three-week trial and more than five days of deliberations, the jury agreed with plaintiffs who argued ''The Nuremberg Files'' Web site and wanted-style posters constituted threats and limited free access to abortion clinics.

I don't expect that you have any truck with the murderers of the armed anti-abortion movement, so respond or not as you will. I'm really looking for left analysis of the 1st Amendment issues here. My unfiltered (pre-constitutional) reaction is "YIPEE! Screw the accomplices!" but I imagine this righteous delight will be tempered over time. Still, for the time being, I offer a small prayer for the victims of the assassinations, and their families.
