NW,
Intersting how market has reacted to CPQ today... looks like the 3 pt rise is all we'll get today. At 11:42 we're off to 49 1/2 and the steam appears to be blowing off. I wonder if this is the calm before the storm up in anticipation of the earnings rise, or if it has dfiscounted the AV setup AND the earnings report.

I agree re CPQ playing AV this way--- CPQ gets to be "seen" as "in part" a future INternet company, and when they go public CPQ itself will get a good boost in equity, especially if they retain half of AV stock and the original issue is fairly good size.

Will CPQ sharholders get a direct benefit, though... the BIG question yet to be answered.
Doug

How does a current shareholder benefit from this spin off? Other than the obvious pop we are getting today. If we hold it as part of compaq it would mean additonal revenues and eventually added earnings.
