Well, those discounts are for going only to certain doctors that participate. This is not necessarily that good a deal. The people that have these cards are likely without medical benefit plans. This means, generally speaking, that they are likely not full time employed and not the greatest credit risks. So it becomes reasonable to conclude that there is a limited market for this, especially with dropping unemployment and that it can be viewed as a credit card scheme, through their extension of credit to a higher risk credit group, likely at a premium rate of return to the lender. Have you wondered why they don't put the list of participating doctors and suppliers on line? Database web publishing is not that big a deal. Ask your son.
