Hi Ralph .."The new scents are always marketed to the department stores first. Considering you are buying for a female, you need to keep in mind with the lastest craze."

I admit that I don't know what access PRFM has to the latest perfumes, but I would guess that the manufacturer would want it in every outlet possible. If that manufacturer saw that PRFM internet sales were catching on, I'm sure he would make it available.

Maybe we could get some female input here. If you were looking to try out a new perfume and you knew about PRFM, is it reasonable to suggest that you would go to your local department store, check (sniff) it out and then order from PRFM if there was a significant cost savings?

But let's not forget the major premise - most women (and guys) stick with the same cologne for years and if they can it cheaper at PRFM, why wouldn't they?

Ralph, Sorry, you are wrong -- Perfumania carries current, quality named perfumes -- same as department stores. The inventory is not last year's no longer popular scent, and neither are they imitation knock offs. The only difference is the deeply discounted Perfumania price. You have obviously never been inside a Perfumania store. I shop there all the time, and am looking forward to being able to buy in the web store.

Ralph -

As far as your vp of marketing goes I hope your' better at it than you are at bashing.

I JUST CALLED SAKS FIFTH AVENUE and asked them 2 questions.

1)Do people change perfumes a lot or stick with the same old.

Answer - "People usually just stick to the same perfume for years -

2)I asked what are the four top fragrances -

she said "Angel, Bulgari, Ferragamo, and Poison".

Next Ralph - I called the PERFUMANIA store in the mall here in town and asked them if they carry these brands - and guess what ! She carried all - had all in stock except for the Bulgari - BUT THAT I COULD NOW ORDER ANYTHING I WANT OVER THE INTERNET !!!!!

Let me say what she said again Ralph - " I CARRY ALL - AND NOW CAN GET ANYTHING YOU WANT OVER THE INTERNET !!!

I didn't prompt her at all - This is BIG BIG BIG - imo - and I'm only telling you this because I'm so excited for PRFM next week and in the weeks to follow. I don't need to argue with you or win the point. IT DOESN'T MATTER NOW - IT'S OUT OF OUR HANDS !

Better cover........

Mr Cosenza, you're at odds with Gorcon, and my girlfriend...

While Perfumania may not be the bastion of new-run perfumes, when I asked my girlfriend if she had ever heard of Perfumania, she said, "of course!", as if I were asking a silly question. When I told her that they were going to begin marketing on-line, she got quite excited (made me think I had found a new form of fore-play...)

I agree with you, that folks who are interested in the latest rage scents will need to continue to pay top dollar at whatever boutique they frequent, but my girlfriends' reaction was that she doesn't have to go out to the store anymore to get the old tried-and-true scents that she likes.

While your assessment of the marketing situation may or may not be correct, the action I have observed during the past few months with regard to a company announcing the intention to go on-line, or the actual commencement of on-line commerce, and the resultant action in the stock price of said company, is good enough to indicate to me that the "buy" side of PRFM is the place to be right now.

I was going to say "the long side", but that invokes thoughts of months, or years, and I think that for those of us in the stoch right now, long term to us is days, or a week, now that D-Day is near at hand.

Good hunting...
