Gander, I see manufacturers and distributors with similar products. The prismatic cells have some improvements but performance characteristics seem about the same. Not as good as the Matsu' li poly which in turn is not as good as the Valence.

Perhaps you will care to elaborate since you seem to have more questions than answers. The "industry trend" you are looking for could be the previously mentioned thin film lead acid battery.

With the new li ion factory, it appears that industry types believe this technology will have legs for some time to come. Taiwan "incorporated" has made the strategic decision to pursue this course for currency reasons.

<<Prismatics seem to be getting better. Does this bother you?
Are you watching the competition or our you writing them all off? (see any surprises or new strategies on the horizon?)>>

If they seem to be getting better, how do they compare with Valence's specs? Remember the Hanil spec should represent a recent, but not necessarily latest, Valence version at 170 wh/kg and they are accomplishing that with patented lower-cost manganese oxide cathode material.

Writing off the competition? Valence is concentrating on high volume of only a few applications. I agree with their approach. As you pointed out, there are many applications and many companies striving to produce a product to keep track of.

As an example, my neighbor might start hand assembling some batteries in his garage next month. He might start a web page. With the power of the internet, it might hit your radar screen and you will post it on the Valence thread. It doesn't mean my neighbor is a serious threat to Valence.

You should therefore try to keep things in perspective.
Remember a single Valence Arcotronics line should be capable of producing Matshshita's intended monthly target of 300,000 small cellphone batteries in about 4 days!

I am comfortable that Valence is far ahead in performance and production capability. Valence investors should keep in mind that one shift per day on just the first production line is enough to break even and the reported 270 in NI should be running at least 1 shift on at least two lines at present(more than required to break even).

Gvander-

First of all, thanks for the great posts...made my weekend.

As far as the "big picture" for li-poly and VLNC, go back to my Thursday or Friday "wild ass" post as to why the stock rose back fro $6. last week....I see it as all positive.

What you have done this weekend is started to show all of us that the world is waking up and noticing that li-poly is now a reality. For that reason alone, the sector will get a new hard look. Every one in the sector is going to have a great 99 as long as others keep joining the "in production" mode.

Lev told us back in August that his greatest thrill was "that this company will make baterries that will change peoples lives and opportunities like this come only once in a lifetime."

If the li-poly market continues to get good PR, then IMHO, the whole sector will rise. IN fact, I keep buing 25 cent shares of LITH becuae the day VLNC announces a huge laptop deal, their stock will double in "symapathy." Just a hunch. Hey, when did you ever get to own 10000 shares of a comapny for so little!

Any way, thanks again for the great posts.
