DBK - Because of my training I tend to ask the same questions over and over, perhaps offending some. I must apologize to CLARK for my pointed questions. But after my persistent probing, you have confirmed my suspicions about BB short sales. To short a stock like AIMS, one must have an offshore account and perhaps some help from market makers. Indeed, Francis has pointed to market makers in message #335. American retail investors are not permitted to short BB stocks, for good reasons. Nevertheless, a stock like AIMS may attract plenty of short sellers, and I believe it has already.

If you have your shares in street name and don't want your shares lent to foreign short sellers, you and everyone else can ask your broker to BLACKOUT your shares. This is not problematic because the shares are not marginable, and therefore blacking them out does affect liquidity. I do this with all stock I buy on the BB. I recommend everyone else do the same.
