Chief

Good luck , I've tried most and have been pleasantly disappointed. One of the last was ETrade , which started out well in the fall and has become one of the worst that I have ever had . Using my full service brokers most of the time now , but that hasn't been a ideal solution either.

Best Regards

Duane Crooks

I certainly have nothing positive to say about my experience with CIBC, they are a bunch of idiots..I'm being kind.. Who do they hire to do our trades anyway, what kind of training do those people receive before being allowed to play with our money?

I am currently switching over to Greenline, but I have heard they can be very slow also, especially their online service..Suppose to be upgrading in April, we will see. I won't stay with them if I'm not completely satisfied with the service I receive.

I am even considering a full service broker, it can't cost me much more than its costing me now, with delayed trades, .

If anyone has anything to positive to say about the service they receive in Canada, I would be only too happy to hear it..

Hey Chief

Stick it to them. I went to the Greenline President Dinner last night in Winnipeg to see if I could rustle some feathers. Great deal on the tickets..spend $10,000+ in commission and get lousy service and they give you free tickets good for free drinks for two hours and some mediocre quiche.

I talked to everyone who would listen to me. I was appalled to find out that nobody even knew there was a problem (or wouldn't admit to it). The two people demonstrating Webbroker were completely clued out. There were trying to tell me that trades went through in 30-45 seconds. I don't think they were to happy went I mentioned infront of about 20 people how long some of my trades take and how often they have screwed up. I also mentioned that they only refund my commission although they often cost me thousands of dollars.

Don't get me wrong... I wasn't some screaming lunatic that had to be dragged kicking and screaming from the building. However I did get a few raised eyebrows and I heard other people after me asking the demonstrators what I was talking about.

Note....what every you do..Do not even consider Etrade as a broker. This is the worst broker service I have every used (although I only every used two others).

1. Almost every trade take 2-5 minutes.
2. Half the time you can't get on the web site
3. When you do get on the site it is very slow
4. They won't answer my letters and nobody in power will talk to you on the phone
5. Out of the last 20 trades I have performed using Etrade they have screwed up on 4 of them.
6. I have now stopped using Etrades and have gone back to Webbroker for the time being.

Best Regards
KEITH

Chief - I share your frustration. I deal with a small office - About 5 order takers - They all know me and they know I rime off the order in the order they enter it. It always the same and they know to repeat it back quick and that it never varies as I speak fast but clear and concise. because they all know me it is generally done quick. On OSF I got in 12 seconds before the offer was taken out that I wanted. and the next offer was way up.

It turns out I still could have got it later as another bid came in.

In your area I would think you could find a smaller office to trade our of.

WE should have preferred stauts

Chief and All:

I have said it before and I will say it again!

I have been using Scotia Discount Brokerage for over a year (by phone) and use a stopwatch to time almost every conversation and trade. I am pleased with the service and have only had one problem in the whole time (it was with a stop limit)

I do not use the electronic trading but prefer the personal touch. Calls average a total length of 1 to 2 minutes (with a usual 10-30 second ring in time before someone answers) I occaisionally get put on hold waiting for a ordertaker for 1 minute if the lines are busy - which can seem like an eternity. Orders appear on my SW screen in less than 10 sec on the TSE and around 30 sec for VSE and about 1-1.25 min for ASE.

Staff is for the most part cordial and efficient and many of them know me by name already. You have to watch for new ordertakers as they seem to have a problem getting used to their screens for the first few weeks. Otherwise I am pleased! Their Trading Floor Manager, Nancy Bowley is always helpful and willing to answer any questions you may have. I have told her in the past that I have touted SDB on SI and she appreciates it (but a 50% comm rate cut would be better lol). Comm's are min $25 and go on a sliding scale for orders >$2000.

A

Try the following link:

ndir.com

I can also provide you with a couple of sites that compare US brokerage firms.

Kind Regards

Hi Chief,

I'll be testing out my new priority brokereage acct next week. I have a free 1wk trial of PcQuote to try also!

Anyways I've done an extensive search and I suggest looking at either priority in Canada or ABWately in the states for us daytrading type. I can get you the info on either one if you like.

Good Luck,

Essam.
PS: Thanks for holding to your principles and not accepting the bad service. I've done the same and moved to priority. I hope EVERYONE speaks out about the terrible treatment we get here in Canada.

Well even though TD WebBroker sucks the big one, I found that if you can get yourself a presidents account, the service is GREAT! If you do a lot of trading (which you do), you should tell them when you sign up how much commission you've paid with your last account and that you'd like to be immediately setup with an Presidents account. If you're lucky they'll do it right away, otherwise you'll need at least $5k in commissions.

I've found that their regular phone service first of all takes forever to get to a live person, and half the time it's not even a trader.

With the presidents line, I usually get through in 1 or 2 rings to a live person, and they always know what they're talking about. Sure it costs more than doing it through WebBroker but on a fast moving stock like BII, you'll save a LOT more by not missing any oppurtunities.

I usually trade through WebBroker, but when the action is hot and heavy at opening bell, I always call in my orders. It usually takes 30 seconds to a minute to have it pop up, depending on how many trades you've made up to that point in the day. (Since their accounting system doesn't keep track of everything realtime, they actually have to look at your prior buys/sells for the day to make sure everything balances out)

Good luck! Now if only they could fix that POS WebBroker...
