Terry,

You are dead on. It was mentioned in the webcast that Ampex will enhance the video.. Bramson believes that there is probably no company in the world that knows as much about making good pictures, including digital ones. With a great deal of compression pictures get ugly. When you take the acquisitions made to date and combine it with the clear thrust of building a brand name for web based video, it become clear that Ampex wants to use their technology to make a superior brand of video and market it under the Ampex name...

The fallout from Victoria's Secret webcast concerning the poor video quality combined with the blockbuster audience underscores the great opportunity Ampex has to build a premium video brand on the web. Tv on the Web and Reiter give them a great place to showcase their video technology with the wonderful business model of narrowcasting.

Think about this marketing call....Hello, Broadcast.com...wow great results ...too bad the video sucked...we're not competing with you...we are narrowcasting...but we can provide you with a service that will enhance greatly the quality of your video....and you need this service because frankly at that quality video, most people would rather watch Victoria Secret's fashion show in a real broadcast medium like cable or over the air.....

And oh, by the way, insteading of buying a servers out the kazoo, buy a few DST, like CNN and HBO and Prevue and ATT have done.it's space age technology and a fraction of the cost per gigabit of hard disk...combine it with a Micronet fibrechannel RAID and you've got a system to rollout across the country as you localize your content for mass access.....

You raise good points, Terry W2. Hopefully, "yes," but...

There is one terrific reason for AXC to have identified this sector, even if it has no immediate value-add to contribute and even if it won't sell a single storage system (and it should do both): Money.

TVW, along with Reiter, could become the best balance sheet play in AXC's 50+ year history. If AXC's smart, it will support and build out this initiative, give it a technical legacy, create "buzz", package the business, and take it public.

As a "pure play," TVW/Reiter could generate a market capitalization orders of magnitude higher than AXC could sustain by itself. Shouldn't have to work that way, but it does.
