Anyone- what cutoff date or type is exempt from govt. confiscation? This commentary says it shouldn't be an issue, but time will tell. And if gold is confiscated the holder gets $42 per oz. from what I've read -- the U.S. govt. book price.

"..confiscation by the US government, but the risk is very slight.
There is a precedent however - they confiscated gold coins in the last depression. In those days gold put a strict limit on governments ability to inflate. The yellow metal has since been de-monetised so there is really no need for confiscation."
