Hi David,
Even though you can find verses on judgement in the OT there are more of love and mercy. Moses told God when He was going to bring wrath upon the people to take him also. The Lord Jesus asked for those that were at the cross to be forgiven. I see a totally different view of these things. IMO it is a test of the heart of the reader. Do you desire mercy and love or judgement? I like Paul said, am anguished and heavy in heart over Israels condition and think it is an error to point out their sins.Did not the Lord tell us to work on our own plank first so we can see to help our neighbors with the love he commanded us to have.
<<"But Jesus turned and said to them, "Daughters of Jerusalem, don't weep for me, but weep for yourselves and for your children." (Luke 23:28 NLT)>>
Knowing the culture and customs of the Jews helps in understanding these verses. There were a group of women hired by the Temple that were basically professional mourners for any Jew being killed by the Romans. Their heart was not in it and that was a part of his response. They were called the Daughters of Jerusalem. I see he was addressing the people who speak for Him but do not know Him. So if they are paid to mourn they should do it for their own for He will not accept fake worship on any grounds.
IMO it is very dangerous to say the persecution of the Jews by the Church throughout history has been from the hand of the Lord. For He desires mercy not sacrifice. During this course of time many CHristians were persecuted as well and I would never say God desired for them or anyone to be destroyed. When the Babylonians slaughtered the Jews because God allowed it He told them He was only a little angry and you have added to this disaster and brought a harsher judgement upon them. The way I look at is that I may get angry at my children and even spank them but WOW to anyone else that touches them. God will have mercy upon whom He will have mercy and He will have compassion upon whom He will have compassion. None of us should even go there IMO. We should tell the Good News of the living loving relationship we can have with Jesus because He paid the price for our seperation from God now and forever. Anything else is from satan IMO.
<<"Now if you obey me fully and keep my covenant, then out of all nations you will be my treasured possession. Although the whole earth is mine," (Exo 19:5 NIV)
"you will be for me a kingdom of priests and a holy nation.' These are the words you are to speak to the Israelites."" (Exo 19:6 NIV)>>
Have you ever really meditated on this verse? How could He require this knowing that all have sinned and turned away? This was accomplished through their Messiah and the Nations are blessed therefore Israel must be His treasured possession.
All of this to me is about who God is and knowing Jesus and His love,
Nancy

"God's wrath has now been satiated and He is working out His promises to the Jew when they shall be evangelists to the world through The Christ."

This shows me that you are still a slave to the myths and fables of Skofieldism and dispensationalism pushed by the Baptist Church. Your vision for the future is really not on the Church and the Body of Christ but on antichrist Judaism. This is a horrible idol to hang around your neck, and it tends to destroy this vision of the Kingdom of God presented in the New TEstament.

"Never has mankind ever seen zeal for God like that of the Jews when they finally get the right concept of Christ and realize they crucified Messiah. God is still working on it!"

"Never has mankind"??? Have you forgotten the zeal of the early Jewish Apostles and disciples who gave their lives for Christ and his Church?? Have you forgotten the hundreds of thousands and possbily millions over the last two thousand years who were tortured, suffered and gave their lives for Christ and his Church?? Why have you made moder Judaism into such a heavy idol around your neck? Where do you get such myths and fables but from the Baptist Church, Skofields notes and dispensational teachings??
Do you really understand and appreciate the glory of the Church started by the Jewish Apostles in the Book of Acts. You do not see the sacrifice and zeal of these early Christians! You do not see the hundreds of thousand of martyred Christians and saints who gave their lives, and continue to give their lives, to spread God's Church and Kingdom throughout the world? Your eyes of the future are focused instead on antichrist Judaism. All you can see and hope for is some day of glory to fulfill your mythical beliefs in Skofield and the Baptist Churches future dispensational "Jewish" kingdom. The Baptist Church, because of these false doctrines, is responsible for much evil in the Middle East and in our country today. In one way, they are working against the Kingdom of God (the Church)
by supporting this antichrist Zionist enemy against the Palestinian Christians in Jerusalem, Ramallah and Bethlehem. They give their moral and political support to those who hate christ and enable them to persecute and dispossess their Christian Palestinian brothers in Palestine.

We need to have our noses in the Bible and to get them out of Skofield's notes and dispensational mythology!
