As a followup I should mention that I received several emails and posts in addition to Cory Hamasaki's post.The following is pretty typical of their qualifications and attitude.
"For what it's worth, I've been a software engineer for 10 years - C/Ada/UNIX/VMS/X-Windows/embedded systems (VxWorks, VRTX), all for DoD contractors. BS-CS from a major engineering school.

I think we're in a world of shit."

Occasionally I get the opportunity to chat with cory...His tone has definitely changed in the past week or so, but I have not had the chance to question him directly as to why...He's seeing something he doesn't like very much...no, not at all...I expect the next DCY2KWRP to be a doozie (sp?)
