mr.mark, right click on e-mail,(hightlite it) scroll down to bottom and click on delete, or

Right click on e-mail,(highlite it) click on EDIT, click on Delete.

Mark. One way would be to delete email without opening would be to use the control key combined with the left mouse button. There might be others, but I don't know of any.

Click on an email that you've opened. The text will appear in the window. Now hold down the control key and click on the email you want to delete without opening. Both emails will be highlighted. Then just click on the delete icon at the top or press the delete key. Both emails will be moved to the trash folder. The unopened email will still have its green button showing it hasn't been opened.

I assume using the "Empty Trash" option under "File" will not open the email either.

If you can identify those emails you don't want, you could use email filtering.
