Re leaving money to children: I, too, am starting to think about this as I accumulate enough to make it likely that I may, if Medicare survivies and nursing homes don't eat it all up, leave something meaningful for my kids. Buffett has some nice thoughts on this, as on most other things -- will leave his kids something, but most of his wealth goes to charity since he wants his kids to learn become productive citizens on their own. Wow!

Tom: Thank-you! Your little soapbox speech on transfer of assets is right on! I have thought long and hard on it as well.

As it happens I have a birdie leaving the nest this summer.

Your comments on being prepared are timely and well put. I'm going to print it right now. It's exactly what I have been sharing (thankfully to an audience that's receptive).

Thanks again for the comments, Steve
