David, one other VERY important rule in trading or investing. NEVER enter a position you do not fully understand and then try to figure it out. This can lead to a world of hurt.

Ask the sort of questions you did BEFORE you do your first short. I know it's a little late for that in this case. Just learn from this.

I would like to as a 'SHORT' question: Do you short at the bid
and buy at the ask? (the same as long, buy/sell) or do you short
at the ask, and buy back at the bid?

I hope this isn't too dumb a question, but wasn't sure.
